The Lombok-expedition was one of the most agressive and bloody expedtions in our colonial history. The formal reason of the expedition was to help oppressed Sasaks. The real reason was to stop increasing influence of the Lombok royal house which was posing a threat to the Dutch colonial Government

The composition of the troups and names of officers are gathered in annexes. The expedition was deemed very important so an official medal, The Lombok Cross, was issued. In this book origin and versions of the cross are described. For this expedition a vast number of Royal Orders was issued. All orders and decorations are described and presented together with the names of the decorated.
